~Mike Dirnt is personally donating all his royalties from his line of vegan shoes to Soles4Souls.

~Whatever It Takes is auctioning t-shirts designed and donated by actors and musicians, including one by Green Day. The charity supports “global development causes including poverty alleviation, environmental conservation and the protection of children.”

~Diablo Magazine has an article on the MuSt golf tournament hosted by Tre Cool, with captioned photos. Mike’s golf team finished first, and the event raised $40,000 for music programs in Oakland’s schools. Update: The full set of photos is now on Flickr.

~There’s a new article, with a new photo of Mike Dirnt, about Monday’s MuST charity golf tournament. It says “Green Day” was in attendance. I’m not sure if that means Billie Joe was there too, in addition to Mike and Tre?

As you know, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt were at the Music in Schools golf tournament today, a charity event hosted by Tre to support music in the Oakland public schools. Some photos have started to come out. These are of Mike, from the people demonstrating the Segway.

This new photo of Mike Dirnt was taken at an art gallery opening in Santa Monica on Dec. 13, 2008. The show is a benefit to raise money for the health care bills of musicians and artists with no health insurance. The gallery’s press release says: “The music and art community is filled with talented people who share the plight of having no access to adequate healthcare. There is a national problem with our healthcare system and we all need to help each other in these dark times.”

It’s good to see a pic of him, looking good as always, and to know he’s always interested in a good cause.
