Now and then I just need to break up the jangled anticipation surrounding the new album with something completely random. I’ve never seen this before, but perhaps some of you have. It’s a video of Billie Joe at 12 (?) years old (if I heard right, the audio is a bit muffled) singing Christmas songs at a hospital show, all dressed up in his nice shirt and tie, and with the sweetest pouffy hair…. He even has some of the same mannerisms that he does now.

Oh God the hair! It’s weird hearing such a familiar voice with an unfamiliar image. Who would have thought that more than twenty years later he’d have written a song about the hypocrisy of religion from that video?

It’s funny how little he has changed over the years, although he shows a lot more enthusiasm in his performances today.
Doesn’t he seem to be a bit bored??
He seems not only bored but even a little embarrassed. :D Perhaps he was too old by then to be doing these nicey-nice Christmas shows… It’s funny to think of him just a few short years later spitting and dropping his pants on stage!
