What Would You Like To See?
Posted by Delfina

I started doing this website for my own enjoyment, because I like thinking and reading about Green Day, which is a topic that I’m obviously excited about and that means a lot to me. I’m guessing you feel the same way about Green Day if you’re reading this. So I’d like to know what those of you who take the time to stop by would like to see on the site. About 200 people stop by every day, and most are somewhat regular visitors. I don’t know who you are, for the most part, but you have my appreciation for coming by. If you’re here, it’s your website, and I’d like to know what you want to read about.

There are several other websites that already post Green Day news, so news is not really the focus here. Occasionally I might have news that other sites don’t have, but it’s usually gonna be stuff that’s not very important or interesting. One of the things recently that I thought was pretty cool, and that other sites didn’t pick up (except for Green Day Brazil) was the photo of Billie Joe at a women’s roller derby match. Apparently he’s a fan and attended an event in 2007 too. Girls’ roller derby leagues are pretty out there and wild: “some of the leagues allow or even encourage the girls to fight during the games.” It seems like a fitting and cool thing for Billie Joe to be a fan of.

I like keeping up on the current stuff about Green Day, so I’ll keep posting news. But other than the very occasional item that you might not see elsewhere, I’m guessing the latest news is not why you come here?

This site is mostly about being a fan, I guess. Do you want to see more, or less, blathering about feelings and how being a fan of Green Day affects us? (I’d like to read more about that from you all, so send your writing in…) Do you want more from Amanda And Elly? That’s up to them, of course, but I know I’ve enjoyed their writing.

I think the early days are my favorite era. Personally, I like reading what the old-time members of Green Day’s early scene have to say about punk rock and independent music, but I’m not sure if that’s of interest to anyone else. I also like the little stories about some show Green Day played years ago, or other tidbits like that.

I like fan encounters. There are some more stories I’ve come across written by people who met the members of the band, but I haven’t posted them because they tend to be sort of breathless and over-the-top. Not sure if you want to read other people’s squeeing? I’d like to keep things respectful toward the band members, of course.

More pictures and videos? I’m not going to have any pics or videos you haven’t already seen, since I only have access to what’s out there, like any of you do, but I might like occasionally posting photos or videos that I enjoyed. Sometimes it just seems too random to post some not-new thing, whether it’s a photo or a story or whatever else.

I don’t have any old magazine articles that I haven’t already posted, but if you like them I can keep an eye out on ebay. I don’t usually post any that are newer than about 10 years old, because I figure they’ve already been seen if they’re more recent. If you have any articles or Green Day memorabilia you’d like to share, send it in.

I’d like to have more about the music itself, but I’m not a musician and it’s not something I feel very qualified to discuss. I don’t even know the correct terminology to write about music. Maybe one of you would like to take that on?

There’s so much about Green Day out there on the web that this website is not very easy to find. I don’t think it’s going to be everyone’s cup of tea… only diehard fans might find it of interest. But if you think other people might like it, link to us from your website or web page. If you want a link back just let me know.

I’m going out on a limb a bit… but I’ve been wanting to ask all of you what you would like to find when you stop by. Feel free to express your ideas, including your likes and dislikes. Leave a comment or send an email to asfo_del[at]yahoo.com. And if you want to contribute, don’t be shy. Thanks to all.

Really Delfina, every one of those things is the reason people come here. Personally, I love the article scans, but I’m not asking you to spend all your money on ebay (though I wouldn’t mind it). Just keep doing the awesome job your doing!

Personally, I most enjoy the stories about the early days and some of the fan encounters, especially the random ones like the roller derby picture. Keep doing what you’re doing! You’re doing a great job!

Delfina! What you do here is really great. Of course, it’s so good that you post a lot of news(which appear here first), but the biggest thing is essays! That’s why i don’t want any changes. And i also like stories about early days;)
P. S. thanx to everyone who works on this site!!

Yes, I agree with all three above - I really like things the way they are, and that’s why I stop by more or less every day (I usually even check this website before I go to GDA).

Sorry I don’t have any real suggestions, but I’d just like to say keep up the good work - more of everything would be my best call, haha =P

I love the website because of all the essays. It’s why I was interested, because it’s nice to read someone’s taking on all this, both being a fan and other things. I don’t think this website is like all the rest, and that’s a good thing! It’s unique, in my opinion.
As for writing about the music… I think I could do that, but it might be random at times. I would have to be writing about stuff we’ve heard. But I’m always up for it! :)
Just a random idea…maybe we could have themes or something, like a ‘Dookie’ theme to celebrate when the album came out or something… Just a thought. ;)

i love the site so much because you guys talk about the older days, put up videos or pics. i’ve didn’t seen before and that’s what kinda makes this site something really special. not to forgett the always updated news. it’s the perfect mix of old and new.
oh … one more thing… ROCK ON! :)

Thanks for all your comments and feedback. Your input is appreciated! Keep it coming.

I only wish I had more stories about early stuff, or photos, etc. I’m sort of limited by what’s available out there, but I’m always poking around looking for tidbits, and I’ll keep doing that. Posting essays about our own thoughts is the one source that’s sort of unlimited, since there’s always something clattering around in our heads (I’m speaking for myself, but I’m sure Amanda and Elly are always thinking about stuff too), so we’ll keep writing them. :)

Elly, if you want to write about Green Day’s music that would be cool. And having themes is a good idea. Sometimes I feel like I need an excuse to post something that’s just random, so it would be good to have a theme to tie things together.

But I’ll also post random stuff without feeling self-conscious since you all have said you’re okay with that. :)

Thank you all.

I love this website. Even though it’s in English, which is not my native language, I try my best and read it all, because I find every single thing you guys write very interesting.
er, as far as I know, there was a forum, right? why it’s no longer available? I always wanted to know about that :D

I personally love this website. I agree with whoever said it was unique. I think what sets it apart from the other fansites is the eassys and the reactions to the news. There’s, (not to offend the other websites which are also great) a sense of maturity or something. It’s not just a bunch of people swearing every five seconds, saying how “hot” the band members are and having arguments over wheter gd sold out or not. I love the random news that you can’t find anywhere else like the roller derby pictures. I feel like I agree completely with most of the writings here and I look foward to what the people on this website have to say. I would say keep doing what your doing and feel free to put up whatever you like. I’ll keep stopping by :) (sorry this is so long.)

I totally love this place the way it is. :)
I love the random fan stories! And one day I’m going to send in something. Lol

Thanks again for all your nice comments and feedback. Please feel free to chime in anytime!

(Diana, forums are a bit too much drama and heartbreak and for me. I was an admin on GDC in 2005, when it was super-busy, and I should have known that was enough foruming for me. :) But if the people who visit the site want a forum, I can open one up, I just won’t be on it very much myself.)

I really like this web site because like you guys said : it’s unique. I prefer the essays and those kind of writing when you know that there is a real person with ideas behind it.

I love this web site because of the essays too!
I’ve never thought that I’m quite good in english (I’m Slovak), but all of those essays forced me to write something too.
uff, I wrote it and already posted yesterday. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
